How to prepare for your wax

Hair Length:

The ideal hair length for waxing is between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch.

Too Short:

If your hair is too short, the wax won’t have enough grip to remove it from the root properly. If you've shaved or used another hair removal method (other than waxing), it's best to wait at least 3 weeks before booking your next appointment.
This can lead to:

  • A patchy wax job

  • Broken hairs

  • Painful skin pulling

  • External irritation

Too Long:

If you're concerned that your hair is too long, don't worry! We will trim it to the ideal length during your appointment.

Coarse Hair:

For coarse hair, it’s recommended to have it closer to 1/2 inch for the first few waxes to ensure the best results.

Hair Growth:

For optimal results, it's recommended to return for waxing every 4-6 weeks.

Exfoliating:

Exfoliate the area being waxed 24-48 hours before your appointment. This will help remove dead skin cells, prevent ingrown hairs, and bring any existing ingrown hairs to the surface. Remember: good waxes come to those who exfoliate!

Clean Skin:

Before your appointment, shower and cleanse the area being waxed. Avoid applying lotions, oils, or creams to the area beforehand.

Avoiding Caffeine and Alcohol:

We recommend avoiding caffeine and alcohol before your waxing appointment. Caffeine can increase sensitivity to pain and alcohol thins the blood, which may lead to more discomfort during the treatment.

Wear Comfortable Clothing:

For your comfort, wear loose, breathable clothing to your appointment. This helps prevent irritation and allows your skin to breathe after waxing, ensuring a smoother post-treatment experience.

How often should I get a wax?

Waxing Frequency Guide:

  • Face: Every 2 to 4 weeks

  • Underarms: Every 3 to 5 weeks

  • Arms: Every 3 to 5 weeks

  • Legs: Every 4 to 5 weeks

  • Bikini/Hollywood: Every 5 to 6 weeks

  • Back: Every 4 to 6 weeks

  • Chest: Every 4 to 6 weeks

Factors Affecting Hair Growth:

  • Waxing Experience: If you’ve been waxing for a while, your hair growth will be slower.

  • Hair Length: Hair should be between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch for effective waxing.

  • Shaving: If you shave in between waxing or are new to waxing, you may need to wait at least 3 weeks for the best results.

  • Hormones: Hormonal imbalances, like PCOS, can cause faster or more intense hair growth.

Remember, everyone’s hair growth is different, and these are just general guidelines!
